Just arrived! Official release on March 11... available for purchase or free download at mitpress.mit.edu/978026255160...

Five things I did last week: 1. Swallowed my pride 2. Choked on the rinds 3. Swallowed my doubt 4. Turned it inside out 5. Put my tender heart in a blender, watched it spin around to a beautiful oblivion

Congrats to Danielle Williams and Arieh Schwartz for both having new articles out in Synthese. As the former chair of their respective dissertation committees, this is a 'proud mom' moment for me. ☺️ link.springer.com/collections/...

Oh yes, Homer’s famous “Tes Thdpssssps.” 👍🏻

Seconding this. I'm a big fan of Carl Gillett's work and I'm looking forward to reading this!

Have you checked out the Open Encyclopedia of Cognitive Science?

The real holy trinity: Eve 6, Mountain Goats, and Chaucer

My article on the Mind/Body Problem for the MIT Open Encyclopaedia of Cognitive Science is now live: oecs.mit.edu/pub/7fjwb5k3...

Killed a couple of husbands, blinded her nephew, imprisoned her sister

How I think I look when teaching/how I actually look

Derek Parfit and Robert Nozick look like they went to the same pickup artist course

Had a dream last night in which the ghost of R.M. Hare was romantically involved with the ghost of Susan Hurley. Feel free to analyze, #philsky

I published a review of Agnes Callard's new book in the Washington Post today! www.washingtonpost.com/books/2025/0...

I left a Band-Aid on too long and now I'm trying to quantify the rotting smell coming from my finger on a variety of medical scales for assessing malodorous wounds. This is the academic content you wanted, yes?

“I’m just glad that I got the LEGO Animal Crossing set before the US goes to war with Denmark over Greenland and it becomes unavailable forever” - my friend Liz has her priorities sorted

I used to answer my landline "I listen to Long Wave Radio Atlantic 252 now give me my money"

Grad admissions season. Oh Slate. 🙄

In case anyone is in Oxford in the early summer, it would be lovely to see you at my Locke Lectures, running each Wednesday at 5pm from 30th April to 4th June (details in the link). Title: From a Point of View Abstract in comments. www.philosophy.ox.ac.uk/john-locke-l...

We've just added some additional speakers to SPAN2025! Be sure to submit an abstract by February 1st and join us at WashU May 1-3 🥳 philandneuro.com

I like to think that whoever created the new college motto is a fan of the Hot Fuzz movie

Massive congratulations to my friend and @jhu.edu colleague, @chazfirestone.bsky.social! Chaz will receive the 2025 APA Distinguished Scientific Award for an Early Career Contribution to Psychology, in the area of perception and motor performance. A well-earned honor for a superstar!

“Earnestness gives way to high spirits” sounds like my kind of philosopher

When the Zoom meeting runs past 5pm and folk start excusing themselves for childcare responsibilities but you have to pick up your friend from her ketamine session at the psychedelic wellness clinic 😵‍💫🫠

So not "inappropriate content showing up on their screens while they're chairing a departmental Zoom meeting and have their screen shared?"

Happy World Logic Day 😂

For World Logic Day, an anecdote from my dear late friend, Aldo Antonelli. Aldo was being interviewed for a job, and someone asks him "How would you describe the relation between logic and philosophy". To which, Aldo succinctly answered: "Part-whole". Incomprehensibly, he did not get the job.
