So this !!

I have gotten confirmation from sources inside the Coast Guard that this is in fact true and happened in Key West. ICE went into military housing and took the spouse of a USCG member who is currently out to sea.

Important work and coverage here by ACLU. Please support them. If US citizens are forcibly removed from their country of citizenship though it is something worse than a deportation. www.aclu.org/press-releas...

Credit to Alysonwelborn @tiktok. This is a must listen! If you believe in Democracy and don’t like what is happening to our country now, this sums it up pretty darn well! #democracy #yourlifedoesntsuck

THIS SHOULD NOT BE AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A day before the arrest of Judge Dugan in Wisconsin, former immigration judge Joel Cano and his wife were also arrested in New Mexico after providing a Venezuelan migrant a place to stay while he awaited his immigration hearings.

If you have opinions about what the MAGA regime is doing to Judge Dugan, make sure your senators and reps hear them. Fine to leave a voicemail after hours, i.e. right now.

Sen Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc)on Trump making Judge Dugan his first US citizen political prisoner: "By relentlessly attacking the judicial system, flouting court orders, and arresting a sitting judge, this President is putting those basic Democratic values that Wisconsinites hold dear on the line"

"U.S. citizen in Arizona detained by immigration officials for 10 days" 19-year-old Jose Hermosillo was walking near the Border Patrol headquarters when an agent arrested him for illegally entering the country. They held him for 10 DAYS until a judge released him! news.azpm.org/p/news-artic...

The Miami Herald reports that the tattoos which prompted ICE to arrest barber Neiyerver Adrian Leon Rengel and sent him to an El Salvador death camp don't show gang affiliation, but rather are the names of his mother and daughter, and icons of a tiger, a lion, and a barbershop. #lawlessTrump

All right, this is one of those requisite book posts. Feel free to skip if it's not your bag. If, somehow, it is, keep your eyes peeled for new titles: a short story collection, the long-awaited (lol) draugr rock festival thing, and also? More of the mockumentary series. Available soon, online only.

This country is becoming unrecognizable. What we’re seeing is state-funded fear. We’ve warned people: keep filming, go live on social media so these moments are documented and shared. This wasn’t a case involving masked ICE agents—but that’s happening too.

"After nearly five hours, he and his wife were released. They are now pursuing legal action. "It's not about the immigrants," his sister, told NBC10 Boston. "It's coming to us Americans, and it's going to go after all of us." www.nbcboston.com/news/politic...

So you can take over Greenland and Canada but can’t send a plane to pick up someone you are paying another country to hold for a year? Weird take on sovereignty.

#GVerse #Food4Thought 😉

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you. The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

BREAKING: Days after a Louisiana judge ruled that the deportation of Mahmoud Khalil can proceed, thousands are holding an emergency Passover Seder at the ICE headquarters in New York City, saying: If you come for one, you face us all.

HAPPENING NOW: Protesters have gathered outside the Maryland courthouse where Judge Xinis is holding a hearing regarding Kilmar Abrego Garcia

Abrego Garcia's wife: "I will not stop fighting until I see my husband alive. Kilmar, if you can hear me, stay strong. God hasn't forgotten about you. Our children are asking when you will come home ... they miss their dad so much."

Nothing much to say on a rainy Mid-Atlantic day. Just checking in for the sheer heck of it. Am working on a ridiculous stack of projects in every ounce of affordable spare time, the usual author blather, lol. Anyway, it's Monday again and here's a book rec: www.barnesandnoble.com/w/civilwarla...

I think at this point, in a roundabout way, this president the more insane masses have elected is paying for a wall. A nice wall at the Hague for him and his buddies to share. Maybe or maybe not with a cigarette. Could be they'll get posh blindfolds like they're in first class, even.

It's late, I'm immobilized by grumpiness, and I realize I haven't flogged a book in a minute and that's something you do in this game. Here's the first of the light novel series on B&N, which has a nice direct link. Yep. #booksky #depressedflogging www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-haunte...

Today Zofi can't hang, you guys. I guess we're going to deflect with humor.

Ok. You can see a personal life argument may have fueled some of this, but here you go. This applies somewhat to the Venezuelans too, but what a great boogeyman for fascism, right? www.thenation.com/article/arch...

#BoycottElSalvador LET'S MAKE THIS GLOBAL ! ! ! Do not visit the country. Crash their Tourism!

Remember boycotts? Guys, they work. Take Canada's boycott of the US. Effective AF. If you're stateside or in a G20 nation now is a good time to #boycottelsalvador If they're going to play the role of international kidnappers they can see if it's enough ransom to keep their economy afloat.

Mind you, if you spot a pupuseria local to you--support them! Don't think for a minute the US government isn't trying to make their lives worse these days just because Nayib Bukele and his minions are its lap dog. Governments can be enemies, but never individuals. Together we can solve this.
