In these tree pollen hayfever days and nights, I long for Orkney

If you are near Leamington Spa, Canalside community food has space for new veg share members - waiting list had been a couple of years in the past www.facebook.com/share/p/1Fhr...

Just finished reading @mandascott.bsky.social's Any Human Power. Fabulous, and thought provoking. It ends with a gauntlet thrown, with a nod to @rupertread.bsky.social, who started me on this writing journey: create your own thrutopia.

'We human beings are not born with prejudices. Always, they are made for us. Made by someone who wants something. Remember that when you hear this kind of talk. Somebody is going to get something out of it. And it isn't going to be you.'

Dana Meadows lives on!

As a creative writer studying climate change, I love exploring @cambecc.bsky.social's earth.nullschool.net to see the shapes of winds and currents around Earth. The Met Office uses it too. Got a notice on there today: 'Much of the data on this website is downloaded directly from NOAA's servers.'

Good for you, Anneliese Dodds!! www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Peanut and seaweed curry for lunch. Lots of roots and of course an apple. Recommend

This will be fabulous

I dreamt I was listening to a schoolteacher's talk to parents, and he said something that implied climate change was over-egged, and I stood up and said, 'That's rubbish,' and started to rant, and then I found that all the other parents had stood up with me, and I was in a sea of standing-up people.

I'm at the business end of The Woodlanders and I don't know if I can go on!

Best layperson's explanation I've found of the relationship between the Gulf Stream and the AMOC ncas.ac.uk/what-is-the-...

Our community farm is moving to no dig for some of the fields. We've spent many a morning retrieving and replacing storm-mangled black plastic sheeting, repositioning the bags of mud that weigh it down. Engineers please take a break from CCS to find us a more effective method! (low/no budget)

Hey @theguardian.com subs this headline is a bit ad hominem - the place we want to get to is that we all work together, right? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

It was the earliest sunset today. Dawn still getting later for a bit though

Real hope in this snappy report about litigation against Shell from @amywestervelt.bsky.social pca.st/episode/cb9c...

'Like Frankenstein desperately trying to pacify his monster by creating for it a mate' - @carolinelucas.bsky.social on net zero, as she looks at green politics and radical English identity through her literary lens. Loving #AnotherEngland - had no idea it would be such a useful literary source.

Feeling so much better about Christmas this year. Gift list down to a handful after well-received negotiations, and every jingle I hear is just a reminder to release more stuff to the charity shops in time for others to gift. The swapping time, with space to notice the solstice.

Oh gosh, only just spotted this brilliant paper from last month summarising the state of the climate in 2024 with dozens of graphs, plain English explanation and plain speaking - must follow the publications of my brilliant second supervisor #TimLenton more closely! academic.oup.com/bioscience/a...
