“Zelensky doesn’t need Trump’s help to give Putin four regions, downsize the army, and abandon NATO aspirations. If he wanted to surrender to Putin, he would have gone to Moscow, not Washington.” Via Sławomir Dębski

That reporter really looked at the president of a country being battered by an invading force and asked “but what was he wearing”

It’s insane to think that the Trump administration was more welcoming this week to the Tate brothers than to the President of Ukraine.

🚨 BREAKING: European leaders rallied to defend Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance subjected him to a tirade of withering and infantilizing abuse in the Oval Office. Full story:

Good point from Heinrich Wefing (DIE ZEIT): Every European politician is now sitting in Zelensky's seat.

Hard to believe. The US sold Ukraine out. They sold the EU out. They sould the entire world out. That's it.

There's no point in trying to remember and remind others. The US is beyond repair.

Beyond sickening. A shameful event, clearly planned, as they ambush a person whose moral worth (yes) is so far beyond them (that’s clearly the point for them, too). Just 🤮🤮🤮

I'm also wondering whether anyone who peddled the "Ukraine is just a US proxy used to weaken russia" narrative for years feels the need to backtrack and apologize today. Ukraine are fighting for their own sovereignty and they'll protect it from whoever threatens it

disgraceful

A message from Zelensky through his actions. Honor and dignity. Some things can only be surrendered. They can't be taken away.

Das ist, was "Speaking truth to power" bedeutet: #Zelensky im Weissen Haus im schauerlichen Spektakel mit Trump und Vance www.bbc.com/news/videos/...

Dear Volodymyr Zelenskyy, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone.

Sorry but this is literally true.

The mistake is to think Zelensky could have salvaged this. Trump admin just doesn’t want to support Ukraine. Period. There was also never going to be a peace agreement. That’s been clear but everyone has been pretending otherwise. There can be no confusion now.

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

Zelenskyy showed more courage and intestinal fortitude today than the entire Republican Party since 2016. It's shocking to see someone refuse to bend the knee and become a supplicant.

Make no mistake. Peoples will remember.

That’s four explicit repetitions of “thank you” and one heavily implied two-word phrase directed at Vance, also featuring the word “you”.

Trump: “You don’t have the cards right now.” Zelenskyy: “I’m not playing cards.” A lesson in moral seriousness. Trump and Vance truly have no idea.

Disgusting. the only people shouting are trump and vance. we can never align with these pathetic clowns. And Ukraine deserves our unreserved support. edition.cnn.com/politics/liv...

"What we witnessed today was bullying from one of the most powerful men in the world. Now is the time to make clear we, as a country, stand with Zelensky in working for a lasting just peace." See my full statement here: greenparty.org.uk/2025/02/28/n...

The unravelling of the transatlantic order is moving from hypothetical and tentative to sudden and brutal. The West as a strategic construct is broken. 🇪🇺 and its 510 million inhabitants (EU, UK, Norway) is now very much on its own. This isn't an nth wakeup call but like being thrown out of bed...

a date which will live in infamy

I'm quite sure how this would work: they would resurrect Nozick and hire Huemer and Brennan?

I'm a liberal but I find this interesting: damagemag.com/2025/02/25/s...

Interestingly, Colbert and Kimmel were dead wrong about the chances of Trump to come back but their liberal hysteria over the general characteristics of a second Trump presidency was surprisingly accurate. Right on the mark.

Conflict &Peace Studies class today. The question was if justice or power should matter more. Plato's Republic and Crito, Sophocles' Antigone and Thucydides' Melian dialogue were on the table. When I also mentioned Ukraine, a guy seemed to have an epiphany in the 2nd row. Not kidding.

It's interesting to see how prominent political scientists who have studied democracies, autocracies and transitions from one to another are analysing what's happening in the US now. Challenging time for comparative politics. Here is Larry Diamond's analysis: www.theunpopulist.net/p/trumps-ame...
