As I get older, I'm well aware that my mental capacity will decline, my physical ability will slow me down, and even my senses will start to fade; but I can't think of anything that will stop me being kind, so I think I'll focus on that.

What a tragedy... I've been to see more of Bill's radio productions than I can count because I knew they were going to be great. He was a mainstay of #Radio4 comedy. Sad times 😔

@julieprunes.bsky.social happy birthday! (Made it with seconds to spare 😁)

These aren't the words to "House of Fun" that I remember...

When I'm talking to myself (which happens rather more often than I'd like to admit) I often put on (probably terrible) regional accents. I was pondering giving these characters names but I think that might be going too far.. "Shush, Nigel, you're nagging again..."

I have many ideas of what hell is like, but a new one has just arrived: it's managed by Ticketmaster, and every activity between now and eternity requires me to join a queue behind 75,000 other people, only to find that there are no places available. It's a modern day Sisyphean situation.

The name "Megan" doesn't generally rhyme with the name "Tegan". Although I have heard of at least one "Meegan" (they might have an extra 'h' in there somewhere), "Teggan" just doesn't seem to happen.

@james.crid.land ooh.. have you got one of these little delights too..?

"But West Norfolk Council (WNC) officers objected, saying the application did not include enough information about how much noise would be generated by car doors closing and vehicles driving on and off the Elm High Road site." www.edp24.co.uk/news/2488873...

This doesn't happen very often.. Wordle 1,322 2/6* ⬜🟩⬜🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

WARNING: Have you started to notice "pay by bank app" options at online check-outs. If so it's quicke & easier but be aware there's LITTLE PROTECTION It's on the likes of Just Eat & Ryanair. You don't give card details, just pick ur bank, and log into the app (via biometrics) then its done. /contd

The Welsh told the Saxons this hill was called "pen" (meaning "hill"). The Saxons added their word for hill, "tor," and called it Torpen (hill hill). Later the Norse added their world for hill. So it became Torpen Haugr (Hill Hill Hill). Now the English call it Torpenhow Hill (Hill Hill Hill Hill)

Would the aphorism "Have your cake and eat it" be better phrased as "Eat your cake and still have it" ... or have I misunderstood the whole premise?

I made and edited a video entirely in portrait mode today. I feel a bit dirty (but it was a tutorial for iOS so sort of justified?)

@beefanddairy.bsky.social David Lynch. Legend and supporter. He will be missed.

The video doesn't really do it justice - when we went past this field yesterday, it looked like there were pigeons learning how to do murmurations by a whole bunch of starlings.. might go down there at the same time next Monday to see if it's a weekly training course...

Made it to the repair café today - one fix, one couldn't-fix and one take-home-to-fix (a 1970s radio with crackly volume and broken aerial). #repaircafe

@princessbagel.bsky.social 👋🏻

It's been a trying sort of a day.

Popped into town earlier with (among other things) a mission to replace the sticky tape in our little tape dispenser thing, what with Christmas and all that. I think someone might have taken leave of their senses with this price.. or have I misunderstood sticky tape all this time?

We were joined by a festive robin on our brief sojourn to the Abbey Gardens..

@gcball.bsky.social Happy Beefhead Eve!

I think the song "You're Welcome" from Moana is pretty much the song that gets stuck in my head for which I know the fewest lyrics. It's just basically "You're welcome" and that's it.

I like Antony Blinken, I do.
