Margaret Matlin had authored a text that I used in the past. I believe now there is another author Thomas Farmer on the newer editions.

This is the one I was going to suggest. The text shows its age every so often, though. Even the 2019 edition suggests the reader do exercises using radio static or a turning on a TV, which lots of students don’t have access to anymore. I think it might even mention a rotary dial on a phone.

We are with Cambridge U Press, a non profit, so a bit cheaper than the big ones (Goldstein w cengage, Reisberg w norton), but obviously not as cheap as the open source options!

I tend to recommend Cognitive Psychology: A Student's Handbook by Micheal Eysenck, mainly because it's the one I used as an undergraduate.

I used ‘Cognition’ by Daniel Reisberg in my undergraduate course and found it one of the most engaging texts I used in my studies at that level. Can’t speak to current edition but might be worth a look.
