Canadians must never bow or curtsy to anyone because protocol demands it. We must never call anyone by an honorific unless they earned it through life effort. Unearned merit due to birth makes no sense. That aside, Charles did a good job reading the Liberal government messages.

IMO a good approach is to refer to nonsense hereditary titles in quotes - “Prince” William, for example, or “King” Charles. Charles and the rest of that ridiculous litter are as “royal” as I am, and I’m a generic American mutt.

Fair enough, respect should always be conditional. ‘The Monarchy’ is baked into our decision making process, which also needs to earn trust — not the people, the system. I generally trust the Constitution of Canada. 🤔

I have very little trust for the monarchy. I have a lot of trust for Canada's government and find the ceremonial role the monarchy has to be mostly funny and of very little real value, but will be happy if it deters trump even a tiny bit.

You can trust the monarchy because it stays in its gilded lane, constitutionally. The US presidency, not so much. Royal personalities are just an occasionally embarrassing side show — the presidents, again, not so much.
