I think one reason I find so much hope and solace in Tolkien’s works is that despite Mordor being fictional, Tolkien’s lived experiences of death, war, grief, and loss were extremely real and his ability to endure and create light and beauty from it speaks to the resilience and strength of humanity.

And serious fans posting on here from Tolkien's letters have really opened my eyes to his awareness of flaws in his own work.
Not that he set out to record PTSD symptoms or the war. I take him at his word that applicability ≠ allegory.
But trauma needs somewhere to go. I don’t think it’s too speculative to say his interests and expertise provided a medium for processing.
Art often does.
There is no better world, in fiction or reality for me.
