The most shocking thing about the Social Media revolution, for me, has been how many of the people I know ARE racist. They kept it hidden because societial norms (rightly) prevented them acting that way in public. A lot of us do not hate immigration (I want more!), but a lot of Uk people do...😟

Yeah. I think that is v possibly true. But I still have hope. I think it starts with people we know, or how we behave towards strangers that might ripple out?? It takes a while to change attitudes and there is still time.

The US is providing a fine example of what not to do - with so many jobs and services being cut and not enough disease control I think we're likely to hear some big stories of how broken things are there soon. Changing the news narrative will sway a lot of people.

We can't really win if we play the same game as them. Their leaflets don't play fair. People need to understand the difference between bad claims and good claims, but seemingly few are trying to improve the public's ability to do so.

Social media has made more rewarding the behaviour of living in your own fantasy world, never being forced to acknowledge being incorrect. The ego is very protective and loves to avoid cognitive dissonance. Not only can people find each other, they are willing to pay money in doing so.
