Unless ALL the proceeds only go to charity, upkeep for the charity to run, and employees who directly work for the charity (as in people like janitors and people helping others).

Paid wages are a cost…even tho they profit the wage-earner. Profitable businesses can actually write-down their tax burden claiming labour as a business expense.

I have to disagree. I am a liberal pastor who is affirming and the tax exempt keeps our doors open and me a livelihood. Most mainline denominations are already at risk folding and this would cripple us. Some are still doing good, honest, loving work.

Not saying religion is bad nor are teachings as most of mjr religions have good groundwork. But cherry pick the teachings to suit their beliefs.

Even though I agree with you, I know without a doubt that if they ever start taking the tax exemption away from ministers, it will hurt the little guy. My husband was a minister to small rural churches the first six yrs of our marriage. We lived off of 12k a year. The exemption helped us survive.
