Thank you for reminding me to look that up. I genuinely like using that stuff. But never did because it's weird on a pc.
And it depends what operating system too
I believe there are differences. But people tend to use it for the same thing sometimes. I always preferred em dashes When it comes to a character speaking and or being interrupted. It feels more fluid.
But, if you don't have to write code to manipulate the text written, em dashes can and should be used when appropriate.
