Rather than fining the Fossil Fuel industry who are causing the problems
a) move (to where??) or
b) be uninsured the next time it happens.
We need a polluter-pays insurance model.
Whole areas will soon be uninsurable and therefore, unliveable.
The cost of government acting as insurer of last resort will be astronomical.
Hard to live near trees.
Stilts, solar / battery / water tanks etc.
Install decent smoke alarms / fire extinguishers etc and thell the insurance companies to F off !
