Same thing, I thought I just got bored of checklist-type open world games but then ended up loving Forbidden West so, I dunno, I'll have to give it another shot someday
I recently started playing myself and am really enjoying it. For me though the story is for sure the most lackluster part. But the game is just absolutely dripping in atmosphere
I would say normal mode is a pretty chill and reasonable time, it can get a little confusing when it introduces sword stances and you have to adjust on the fly for when you have groups of enemies vulnerable to different ones, but there is an easy mode, too.
Its like Assassin's Creed before the loot system. With the classic Batman Arkham fighting style. More of a stealth game but doesn't have to be but they can be overwhelming.
I need to tell you this but idk if it was a good idea to check out the dlc before getting towards the end of the game. You get some OP stuff but the horsey lore cut through my soul. Its so fucking good though.
Ghost of Tsushima was one of my top picks I finally got around to this year. I knew it would be good, but I didn't think it would impress me as much as it did. Turns out I'm just tired of the way Ubisoft does those kinds of games.
It's pretty much everything I could have ever wanted from a big budget samurai game. Fun as hell stealth and fun as hell combat. The Iki Island expansion is FANTASTIC too (also hard as nails! So be sure of yourself before going in!)
Cannot wait for the sequel.
They already had "Samurai Cinema" mode for that.
What they should have done for "Kurosawa Mode" is have it so the whole game look like the dream sequence in Kagemusha
Do yourself a favor and try Lethal mode! It seems daunting at first but it's so rewarding once you get the hang of it. Have fun either way, I just replayed it!
There are far more shallow and unnecessary examples of them capitalizing on a game's success. Until the sequels come out and disappoint you, maybe give them a chance.
They just play it safe once they see a games popular. Horizons sequel was lacklustre compared to the original. Then the remakes/remasters of TLOU and Demon Souls just a quick cash grab too.
I absolutely love this game. I wish I could go back and play it for the first time. Have an awesome time playing it and take your time and take it all in. Beautiful game! :)
Playing the PS5 version utterly stunned me with how beautiful, smooth, and fluid the graphics and gameplay were. Also, the haiku spots got me interested in writing my own and it really was effective as "cooldowns" before the crazy fights again. That last one though, oof.
I love the slight painterly feel the world has. Like it's not just standard hyper-realism, but it has a slight idealized look to it that really feels like you are wondering through a work of art and anywhere you stop to take in your surroundings is beautiful. Feels like theres no blemishes in it.

If you haven't already, watch the FX Series "Shogun" after you've gotten your fill of Ghost. It's a perfect pairing.
