I would never pretend to know him on a personal level. I used to work at his apartment building in Boston. Ricky used to chat it up with us and was insanely funny and fun. Always thought he was a really good dude. Sad news.

I attended a Tigers - A's game at Tiger Stadium in the magical summer of 1984. Rickey led off the game with a home run as he did 81 times in his Hall of Fame career. Rest In Peace.

I met him in the Luxor hotel restaurant in Las Vegas in November 2001, and even though I interrupted his conversation with two table mates, he was very gracious and even shook my hand. Any time my friends and I talk about a fantasy draft of all-time greats, he’s my first pick. Rest in peace, friend.
So sad. My favorite player of all-time. Starting seeing the rumors float out there late Friday night. Had to go lurk on the other site and then when TMZ reported I knew it was probably true. TMZ is trashy but tends to scoop everyone in confirming celebrity deaths.
Been mostly following the reaction here and on FB. Not sure how my sanity will would hold up knowing the toxic douche bros are probably starting conspiracy theories saying he never should have taken the jab.
