If King Charles fails to be clear with Trump that Canada is a sovereign country & he must stop making references to Canada being the 51st state, I really think it’s time to become a republic. What is the point of the King as our Head of State? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-king-charles-trump-invitation-uk-state-visit/

The monarchy is proving itself irrelevant in Canada, just as it did in Jamaica.
The King would never make such a statement without being directly asked. And what would Canada or Britain gain by having him do so right now?
Stop grandstanding.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not a good one. Not particularly pertinent to Canada.
Expecting him to be anything more is fruitless.
But, here we are.

Except that nice soccer coach. Let’s make him our head of state.
You’re LITERALLY acting like Donald Trump. Ironic, really. But i suppose unsurprising.
They transitioned from a British Westminter system to a Republic very recently.
If Barbados can do it, maybe we can too.
The King will *never* make a public statement on his own. *Never*. The government of the day has to “advise” him to do so. Ours obviously hasn’t.
Stop creating controversy where there isn’t one. We have bigger problems.
From the smell on the wind, I don’t think the UK would spend two shillings to help Canada: after Brexit, they’re desperate for a US trade deal and I think they’d sell us out for that.

My head is spinning these days. Constantly.
we are just about done with the fucking U.S. Canada we need to stand on our own two feet and work with our other allies. Full stop.
This should be basic civics.
Despite the threats of annexation and economic devastation from the Trump regime, His Majesty hasn't done that in any way, shape or form so far.
THE KING DOES NOT MAKE DECISIONS UNILATERALLY.
THAT'S THE POINT OF CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY.
Who are you trying to fool with this forelock tugging nonsense Smith?
The credulity is astonishing
A medieval relic.
