Spot on. Comprehensive pedestrianisation should be far higher up the agenda in our cities than it is. Nearly wherever cars go, cities get worse. Nearly wherever they’re removed, those urban spaces flourish.

Before & After: I don’t think people realize the extent to which parked cars degrade public space.

Still some scope for tempting some people onto e-cargo bikes with the "Wheeeeee!" factor. Agree with you about public transport.
One dull, one sunny. One buildings are grey, another painted. One has the tree, the other misses it.
It sells the narrative well
But be careful.
You’ll be accused of a continued “war on the motorist” by media which denies climate change, and may or may not invest in fossil fuels.
Then you’ll be cancelled as a woke do-gooder “so called journalist”.
hopefully soho one day too
It is more to do with the outlets on the outskirts of halifax such as pellon Lane and Charlestown road where parking is free

Or sumfing .....
I think the case here, though, is just that the second picture has warmer color grading and is of generally higher quality, and that that is contributing substantially to it being judged as superior.
I’d love to be able to use my car less, but it’s currently a necessity.
A chair and van is my life... No cities for disabled...??
It's hard enough on my wrists, pushing the chair across the damned stuff, must be far worse to be feeling it from top to toe and up every bone in your spine.
Then having pedestrianised streets is brilliant…and the buildings aren’t filthy from exhaust fumes.
But of course, all those streets look great in sunshine. It rains a lot here!
