We lost a seat in TX cuz they elected an old man as opposed to the daughter of the congresswoman who passed away in that district, when is the old guard gonna learn???
You youngsters don't understand, AOC is a commie! You can't have this generation in office, yet all lazy and naive! (If you couldn't tell I'm being sarcastic)
The Dims are just as much tools of the elite rich as the Repiglicans. Their role _was_ to _appear to be_ be champions of working folks, getting into fake fights with their Repiglican colleagues but mostly failing to stop the looting of the middle-class thereby enriching themselves.
But in seriousness, I know. That's what needs to be addressed, the progressive caucus needs to lead in order to pose a real threat to Trump's populism.
I can embrace no optimism; I never really could. I didn't vote until 2020 because, up until then, the choice was between the oligarchy-vetted candidates or the oligarchy-vetted opposition-party candidates. I only voted when the choice was between the old, semi-functioning oligarchy, and fascists.
But the Repiglicans weren't satisfied with their share of the loot and so, now, we have the New Hitler arising, riding on the backs of the undereducated white men the GOP weaponized. This is a darkness for which there is no recovery. Yeah, I voted for the Dims...big fucking deal.
As I said though, that's not why Trump, and fascists in general rise. They take advantage of the disenfranchised lower class and manipulate them through the doctrine of selective populism. It's not at odds per se in its entirety. More a miscommunication on my part. That is why Trump rose among Republican party circles. I was more talking on how that translated into his image of populism that got ordinary people on board with a very obviously fascist candidate.
are disenfranchised. It is not just economics and class, it is a longing for cultural ways - _their_ culture - that have been displaced by, yes, the ongoing cultural changes wrought by the Enlightenment. Ironic is the semantic connection between the pejorative "woke" and the _Enlightenment_...
The gop will eventually arrest all of them for simply not being Republican and they'll sit there in their cells wondering if it's because they didn't pick an old enough candidate

You're extremely naive.

Also, there is no middle class.
