If there's no other option? The job market is hell people working at meta are just another group of victims to the system being mean to them is not gonna change anything
People do Not "need to work" people need to eat, drink and sleep. Stupidly.. we decided those needs shoukd require magic worthless paper that you can only obtain by selling your precious time. Or you know.. being born with it...remind me again how much "work" our billionaires "need to do"?
On top of that. It’s weird it went from interesting to influencer bullshit from 0/100 in like 1 month. They did not even try to make it a real competitor to the old school twitter.
Threads is burdened by all the Metabaggage.
The “free-speech” turnaround is as hilarious as it is horrifying. Threads was actively tamping down on news feeds because they didn’t want it get too political & Twittery. Now all of a sudden he wants to be Mu$k’s 23rd kid. Pathetic.
I think they changed course forever when they introduced this Newsfeed thing to Facebook. Around 2012 or whatever it was and the posts where sorted by interest... or paid content.
Lmao. I was so mad at Meta when I saw Don Jr. post in my feed after having blocked him 7 years ago that I reported the post and escalated it to review just so I could write a lengthy rant about how angry I am at them for forcing fascism into my feed. figured it was the only way to get my message out
Yeah it was a photo of him flying over Greenland and in the comments was a herd of MAGA cheering him on saying we are going to take Canada and Greenland for the glory of the homeland. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
I have to leave for this reason. No matter how I try to cultivate it, I get adds and post that are cleanly opposite of my religious and political leanings. Tik toc and Bluesky and even YouTube don’t do that to me. Just meta
Same here. Whole reason I came to Bluesky now, I plan to delete Facebook completely on the 20th. I just counted SIXTEEN posts in a row that were ads or “suggested posts” from pages and groups that I do not follow and do not want to see. Half of it was MAGA crap.
I'm doing the same. So far I haven't gotten any unwanted ads or suggested posts, but I am so against what Zuck is doing on principle that I cannot be there.
It's super gross. I'm so disappointed. I loved being in community with folks and using FB to capture memories of my kids growing up. Those "x-years ago" memories were so delightful. Not worth it, though. If I stay, I'm complicit.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that for about the last two weeks I was actually getting bombarded by ads that said they were for some kind of healthcare company but were actually straight-up hardcore porn clips!! Really disgusting ones!! The more I reported them, the more o saw. Just astonishing.
This was why I unfollowed you. For years, you've spent your days online casting judgments of other tech companies, when you're quite literally part of the problem. Cambridge Analytica should've been the canary that your CEO is morally bankrupt.
As an ex-FB employee, all I can think of is that Trump, or more likely Elon, has somehow got an armlock on Zuck.
The dude has always been a bit of an asshat, but why all this? So suddenly? Or has this writing been on the walls for months inside (possibly literally)?
People are replying looking stupid as fck. “Weird” oh yes, how weird of a business owner to prioritize ETHICS. We forgot y’all love to ignore ethics until it affects YOU.
Keep rejecting them, no room for people who can’t stand on the correct morals.
That doesn't make sense. Ethically. You shouldn't hold regular, run-of-the-mill workers accountable for the actions of a company. Especially one as big as meta. It doesn't hurt meta, it just hurts individual workers. Which is unethical.
Ethically, you shouldn’t work for a company that doesn’t match your morals. And many companies look at it this way, if you have animal abuse history you wouldn’t be allowed to work at a vet. The same way if you’ve got a bunch of time working for a misinformation station, other companies might not.🤷🏽♀️
That's just not the reality we are allowed to live in. People need money. Ethical jobs are not always easy to find. Especially if you have no connections
I get that it’s difficult, but there are retail/grocery stores and other options, plus that’s how jobs work. They look at your experience and deduce if they wanna hire you based on it, if it’s based on job history and experience then it’s normal. Not saying the guy is bad. If that makes sense.
That's unfair. Most workers are just that, workers.
A lot of people don't have the privilege of standing up for their ethics/morals.
I stood up for my morals at my last job bc they were underpaying female workers, stealing wages, etc. And all I got was fired. Haven't found a job. Life is hard
Comparing an average worker in a capitalist society to the "just following orders" excuse is a false equivalence. Economic survival is not a choice. People need to eat, pay rent, healthcare, etc. The system is designed to make us complicit in their evils. Why does that fall on the individual?
I have a friend who used to work at Meta and was retaliated against while trying to improve the culture there. You would automatically reject them? They had a very hard time finding a new job after being blackballed in that industry.
But it took six months for Luigi to pull that off. He had the brains and time aka money for it. Another hit on a CEO? Doubtful though I wouldn't be shocked. Random acts of violence aimed at tech, insurance companies, healthcare etc? Yes. Will it catch the CEOs attention to change? Doubtful.
This! 💯 If EVERYONE walks out, EVERYONE, and noone else works there, (a united peoples ban on fb), they have nothing! IF everyone had the balls to do it. Too many people are scared to. 😞
They won’t, because they’re getting paid in Meta shares and the job market sucks for tech workers right now. And if the past year in human decision-making has taught us anything, it’s that values turn out to be pretty flexible so long as everyone keeps getting paid.
The picture of that guy I just, I've been there, smoking is not good for you!!! But timing the break with the burn of the cig Like Obama I don't inhale. And hate the smell of cigs and yet I look for these moments of peace within the eye of the storm. Thanks for posting. The eye has a tail...🫖❤️🔥
I’m leaving Threads and Instagram now and phasing out of Facebook. Groups is the only reason to stay but I’m gearing up for leaving those too. Meta is dead to me. Sorry for those who will suffer because of some seriously twisted actions of Zuck.
I’m a queer trans woman who plays sports and have been absolutely inundated by right wing particularly transphobic slop on Facebook for about the last year.
It’s just the experience of being a trans person in the US. If I don’t get a couple of daily reminders that half the country hates my existence & another 1/4 are indifferent, then it isn’t a day.
As long as they don't fuck with my VR, I don't care. I already left FB over this decision. I won't be somewhere that it's okay to be transphobic, that's not your problem. I hope you can find a new job at a less shitty company.
💥 NEW SONG OUT NOW: “PERFORMANTE” 💥
This isn’t just a song – it’s a kickstart straight into your energy! Perfect for anyone looking to push their limits. 🎧💪
Correct. This makes no sense to do this because if so much fake shit out there. Zuch did this because he saw a regime that could care less about responsible postings.
Trying to convince my bestie to leave the overlords but they’re steep in the intelligence department as a director that handles a team who takes care of all the shit we don’t see. I’ll just say the shit they be doing is faken wild.
Again, someone's living situation is none of my business. I work in IT and I've in the past gone six months without a job. I don't want to do that again and my kids also prefer having a home and food. I don't judge.
But to be fair, people CAN safely engage in corporate espionage from the inside.

already deleted Threads and Instagram, and facebook/Messenger is scheduled for termination on this Sunday after contacting a few important "friends" I wish to keep after giving FB the "Kick to the curb."
FB wants to incite violence towards LGBTQ people and as an LGBTQ individual I am no longer safe.
so a fun little update. Zuckerburg tried throwing me in FB jail again...
so I just upped my exit date and threw out the entire FB jail along with FB itself.
His next job will be impressed that his résumé topper is a position at Facebook however, at the same time, they will completely understand why he wants to leave. This is really a win-win solution you’re suggesting.
I was recently fired from my 12 year job at Apple for trying… but, you do have to draw a line for yourself somewhere. They want to make us into a working class of bootlickers that do what we are told, and question nothing. I’m not saying get yourself fired, but make a little noise… yes.
I'm not applying to jobs with US military branches because of my morals, despite being qualified for some and them paying well. It's not that fuckin hard.
Kind of amazing how hard Zuck has rolled, but I think he’s kind of without principles and just manages to the metrics. So his real commitment to DEI, fact checking, etc was probably pretty thin.
People think their politics or what they do for a living has so little to do with who they really are whenever their job &/or politics are garbage. Where you put your energy for sure matters. It has an awful lot to do with who you are. Just saying.
He may not be an employee but Zuck has a long history of having difficulties with his employees. Many walked away from the company.

You know what a fun cool lil idea could be for you guys? Organizing a mass employee walk out in protest. Shut it down. They can’t function if you stand there to do your job.
Sometimes you have to leave a lucrative career on principle in order to meet your own eyes in the mirror.
You may not be as wealthy, but you’ll be happier.
Ask me how I know.
I get recruiter emails from them once in a while and respond asking themselves how they can look in the mirror every day. I mean, genocide in Burma and the 2016 election should have been enough for folks.
BRAVO to all of you dropping Meta! I made the decision in early '17 after it was clear Zuck was denying if not perpetuating false propaganda for profit. And I saw how it was changing people by helping to brainwash my friends & family. Deleting Facebook was the best mental health decision I've made.

He had an opportunity to experience a good guy makeover. He declined.

Then this happens
They must feel like they’re on the chopping block
While you know the people and teams you work with have good people doing good work
If trump’s labor dept doesn’t have workers’ backs, and billionaire CEOs start shamelessly shitting on workers, people are gonna be mad
With better social safety nets such action would be viable, and would limit abuses by corporations.
This is why they fight against social programs.

Mighty sick and tired of billionaire dude-bros bending a knee to a would be dictator.

So yea sorry for your DMs bud. I understand.
Until then ….
You're tainting your own professional reputation.
Yes you have to eat, but it's your choice not to seek alternative employment. If you "can't leave", that's something else to inquire about.
But to be fair, people CAN safely engage in corporate espionage from the inside.

Or deleting the entire company, which we'll have to do eventually to save civilization from it.
I thank you.
Or, if you choose, an ugly one.

Yes I’m being hyperbolic but this is how y’all sound.
It's really not that hard to understand why people would be offended at the idea surely.
I doubt that the high end tech job at Meta is really "all he could get" with his qualifications, and I'm in the job search trenches as we speak.
I'm not applying to jobs with US military branches because of my morals, despite being qualified for some and them paying well. It's not that fuckin hard.
