I think the rot is still there at the Guardian (UK), and the question is confounded by the fact that the Guardian (US) is much more trans-positive in its coverage.

The Guardian's systemic transphobia isn't just down to its columnists (e,g, Hinsliff, Rustin, Ingle, R.Cooke). Its news coverage, e.g. Amelia Gentleman (see her Cass reporting), Haroon Siddique (on Stonewall), also repeats GC framing, and is arguably more dangerous for the cover of 'neutrality.'

Review in three months is sensible, I think. They need to earn it.

Observer is just as bad as ever - but wasn’t expecting change given the anti-trans editorial stance of the new owners.

I've not given the new Observer much of a look yet, but I do have a Discord full of British trans and queerfolx who would vehemently consider The Guardian to still be a collaborator.

Might be interesting to add a column in your database table for current movement/direction. I’d say the guardian is trending towards neutral, but not there yet.

Not unless they start condemning their previous positions and making it clear they understand their role in allowing this. 1 month of neutral to good articles doesn't make up for years of hate

Not yet, although I have seen movement, it is only towards neutral rather than being it, I think.

Not yet. They've been a more dangerous vehicle for transphobia (in that they reach the gullible centrists) than right-wing media, and they need to prove themselves.
