Funny that only Tieman(n)'s from the KC area replied to this. My fam dropped the second n a few generations ago, and claim we couldn't afford the extra letter like you double n-ers the h-ers and those super wealthy folks who kept both lol.

Lmao. I had no idea the history of our German name. I only know it was once useful in telling friends from telemarketers back in the olden days when we answered the phone.
One of my best buddies growing up had the last name Rzepka, and the ways that telemarketers mispronounced that were amazing. I think the guy who asked for Mr. Rez-bep-ka was by personal favorite
