I’ve said many times that I am a better person for having read Discworld, and it’s true
if you’re going to base your morality off a book you could hardly do better than Pratchett

It's fascinating to see from these pulled quotes, over and over again, how much of my worldview and social philosophy was guided (maybe even formed) by reading Pratchett in my 20s. He should be required reading. Especially the Vimes series.

Stop worshiping churches, and listen more to the original teachings instead.
Terry's characters raised me more than my parents did, and I'm a better man because of it.
Just, I think Discworld taught me a lot more about ways to be than they did.

Felt like a minor scandal.
It's too hostile to the status quo.
Especially if you follow through the whole series. The baseline morality is always there but it becomes clearer & better defined as you go along - and I'm only halfway through!
wife has a Guarding Dark tattoo; we got inked together (I got the Pioneer star map on my back).
anyway thanks to this post imma start reading Pratchett properly.
Read the Colour of Magic at 18 when it was just newly published, the perfect time to discover pTerry.
Plus, hailing from XXXX, I have a Very Large Problem with highly inbred rich dickheads telling me what to do for no good fucking reason.
