Discworld QOTD, from Wintersmith
“The librarians were mysterious. It was said they could tell what book you needed just by looking at you, and they could take your voice away with a word.”

it was fitting that the Librarian was clearly one of the happiest beings on the Disc
He is not an ape, he is an orangutan.
I still remember when a group got someone to call him that without knowing, and he just gave a gentle notice that he doesn't like that and immediately planned to find out who put them up to it.
Books = Knowledge = Power = (Force x Distance ÷ Time).
he was once a human but was transformed into an orangutan and prefers to stay that way (and, this is Very Important, do not call him a monkey)
ook
The person who tricked him, however....
The other time that springs to mind is. Maskerade, when he gives Agnes a warning before she accidentally calls him a monkey.
Agnes: starts to say ‘monkey’
“He likes you”
Agnes: “How can you tell?”
“He didn’t try to rip your head off”
Even your average conan barbarian would not be able to fight an ape with his bare strength
I think Death is the only one that appears more than he does, but that's because, well he's Death.
That guitar player sure seemed a little Elvish.
But 'monkey' is a slur.
