As someone who only played the games, I never realised (until right now!) that Fiona was later written as his mother.

For me Goldanna being his real sister feels right I guess? Him being rejected so bitterly in Denerim loses its sting a bit if he's not really her sister.

I actually had a whole scene written in DAI where Fiona tells him, but the requirements were so specific for them both to be in Skyhold and it seemed like it'd be relevant only to a small small sub-section of fans (and confusing to everyone else) so it was dropped. Rightfully so, I guess.

I did appreciate the small nod to their history in the Alistair and Morrigan dialogue that can happen under certain conditions in Skyhold. I'm sure that (and esp the Loghain version) were a hard sell based on who would actually see it... but they add a lot to the experience if you did play DA:O.

Oh god don't. Veilguard is... well it's clearly been in the oven *far* too long. I wouldn't say the writing is bad, but it's uneven

The decision to explain all important lore events in excruciating detail and then link them all to a single person is a... choice. Personally I don't view it as canon

I can only imagine the line delivery for "have you licked a lampost in winter," to need to be so specifically dorky otherwise it would be creepy. And that's why Alistair was so much fun and so loveable in my opinion.

One issue with Fiona being his mum is that didn't that make it canon that half elves always presented as human. So the only people capable of looking like actual elves are people born of2elves? It feels like it would have been so easy to visually erase and "assimilate" the elves into human culture.

For the humans that hated them and put them in alienages, and wanted to erase their culture. They could have been much worse colonialist if they did that, like what happened to Australia Aboriginal people.
