Not that there's any shortage of that, when it comes to deciding why a game doesn't do well. For the anti-woke crowd, for instance, there are woke games that do well and woke games that do poorly and only the ones that did poorly did so *because* they were woke. Says more about them than the game.

They've lost consumer trust. I don’t know how easily they'll recoup it. It would likely take measures I doubt they'd do.
I wish it weren't that way. I really wanted VG to succeed. The world and games you helped make are my absolute favourites on a long list of fantasy favs.
I mean no offense to anyone who worked on more recent games, but I've been waiting for a new game that felt like Dragon Age since the first Dragon Age game.
They could have just told a good story anywhere/time in that world with the same mechanics and we'd have loved it.
Obviously neither of them is the same as Dragon Age mechanically. But both have similarities to the original Dragon Age and have done extremely well, because they are great versions of that kind of game.
And BG3 was a lighter fantasy.
But it's about more than those kinds of details. It's about characters and stories and immersion.
As gamers. We should move on. It's ok for mass effect saga to end, instead having the fate of mistreated Dragon age had. Let's embrace something new&fresh
it is our only alternative to stop idolize the concept of money. Money don't have value outside human societies and our survival as a species and individuals is in such a limbo state because of that.
Why would someone work for EA on a strategic CRPG when there are multiple other, smaller companies with better working conditions and job security?

as someone whose first introduction to thedas was veilguard, i can absolutely say it feels dead on flat after bg3. the story is linear, the relationsips are linear, your choices pmuch matter to get you powerups
I will always miss the particular craftsmanship of the original Dragon Age writing team, but I really believe the story could continue thriving, if it is allowed to.
I fear more and more (non-indie) games will be created with data, trends, and metrics in mind. Always chasing the latest trends.
But after this year, everyone who made the magic -I- wanted from those games is gone. (AFAIK) and man, I am no longer excited for a new ME game.
I say, wearing 3 pieces of ME gear right now.
