Yesterday we learned India's LNG demand was 43% lower than the 5 year avg. LNG is pricey so they choose cheaper options!
Let's check in on China. Like in the US and everywhere, the Chinese gas industry wants to build more power plants. But there is a catch!

In CO2 emissions coal>oil>gas.
Renewables are less than 50% of China’s energy consumption. An energy transition with gas as the transition fuel has some advantages.
How long do you think it will take storage to "close the gap?"
Building new fossil fuel power in 2025 is peak stupidity unless you enjoy losing money and ruining the future of your country (USA is attempting this on a large scale. We're dummies).
It is a tradeable commodity after all..

"Seaborne gas imports are prohibitively expensive"
Seaborne gas imports = LNG.
We knew LNG is too expensive when you can just make your electricity with sunshine. China gets that.
But what about that domestic gas they produce in China?

the lower rate is IOG octopus over night which charges my car, battery and ASHP so with my solar in what was a great month for sun look at the price I paid and note I exported 50 quid's worth of solar energy
I haven't seen anything on their plans for seasonal storage.
