"(Bloomberg) -- Indian liquefied natural gas imports are declining as milder-than-expected summer weather, coupled with high spot prices, have curbed purchases of the power plant fuel. The country’s 10-day moving average for LNG imports dipped to....about 43% lower than the 5-year average" Hmmm.

Water industry lobbyists tried to inflate the value of failing firms. Now it’s clear: bringing them into public ownership could cost close to £0. There’s support across the spectrum for public ownership. Action is a matter of political will. @cmmonwealth.bsky.social @ewanmg.bsky.social

Can we get a photo of Kilmar's tattoos so we can see the MS-13 Trump said was on his hands?

IEA is supposed to have a new report out on LNG emissions this month. In the meantime, let's remember what they say about normal pipeline methane (natural gas).

Update: "Natural gas and other fuels cannot match renewables' speed to market." "If you're talking about new nuclear, you're talking about … generating kWs in 2033-34. If you're talking about new gas, by the time you're talking about taking delivery of an H-class [turbine], it's probably 2030-31"

"Ted Brandt, Marathon Capital LLC founder and CEO, agreed that renewables would remain attractive to investors without federal incentives." Hmmm. So many online fossil fuel supporters have told me emphatically that this is not possible.

"India's coal-fired electricity generation in May fell at the fastest pace in five years, as overall power demand declined for the first time since August and renewable energy generation rose to a record high" Seem promising, but what about gas power?

I fixed the headline for accuracy since US oil is in decline. You can see it in the chart.

“Companies can now recover their investment in transitioning to predominantly renewable energy — using solar, wind and batteries — in less than two years.”

“The margins are shrinking, the fields are getting smaller" www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nat...

Bjorn Lomborg telling a private luncheon CCS is 'not going to happen.'

This seems normal.

Is there any info on what prices data centers can afford to pay for power? Elon's Memphis operation certainly isn't low cost and all of these that are planning on using gas are going to be looking at much higher gas prices in the future. Perhaps it doesn't make a big difference for them?

So the people running the US are doubling down on fossil fuels and that is making electricity more expensive. Another broken promise. How will this help our standing in the world? (1/3)

Carbon capture “continues to be evaluated for its technical and economic feasibility.” As one European utility exec said a few years ago, if we haven't figured it out after this long, it won't work. Carbon capture makes coal more expensive. Coal is losing in the US on economics. Do the math.

I thought all of the stupid people were in Alaska working on how to lose big money in LNG. Turns out there are some in Pennsylvania too!!

Many fossil fuel execs like to say they are full of caring for people suffering from energy poverty and just want to help. If this was true, they would support solar. Awesome video about how solar has replaced diesel for Indian salt farmers.

My piece in morning's New York Times about the unlikely activists who are fighting to turn off the tap on forever chemicals— and making serious headway, even as the Trump camp is dismantling environmental regulations. #PFAS @crownpublishing.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/04/27/o...

Why will electricity prices go up in the US? This table holds many of the clues. Between 2024 and 2026 LNG exports go up by 4 billion cubic feet per day and production only goes up by 3 billion. And that is just the beginning of increased exports. Prices in 2024: $2.20. Predicted 2026: $4.80

The fossil fuel shills love to blame high energy prices on renewables. It's a lie. Hopefully the media will continue pointing this out. Because US natural gas prices are going higher and that means so is electricity.

Another state punting on doing anything about oilfield pollution. “...and the court has found today that the amendment — the pollution control clause — is essentially meaningless, and that has to be wrong,” Evans said.

The end of the internal combustion engine? Global sales of petrol and diesel cars peaked in 2017/18 and are now falling. The shift to electric and low-carbon transport is well underway—and EV sales are rising fast.

Remember when Republicans were all about free markets? Or remember when they liked to say that local municipalities should be able to decide their own laws? Seems like they were lying about all that too.

The oligarchs need you to pay for their data centers. "The rapid development of data centers connected to the largest US electric grid raised costs by $9.4 billion, an expense that consumers from Illinois to Washington, D.C., will see reflected in their utility bills starting this month."

This sounded like a really smart move. I haven't heard anything about it in a while. Are any countries doing this?
