I think I need to stay off of all social media save for BlueSky for the next couple of weeks or so, it's too dang depressing. #BookSky ππ I need some comfort reads, what do you have for me? Self recs welcome! I'm talking some Anne of Green Gables level of comfort. (Which is my 10/10 marker)

Caste: The Origins of our Discontents
By: Isabel Wilkerson
It is great for understanding how we got here. Non-fiction that is very readable.
I highly recommend.
Musk - Bezos - Zuck are all Nazis and I will not support anyone on those sites!

-The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong
SciFi
-Quarter Share (and series) and The Wizardβs Butler by Nathan Lowell
-The Wayfarers series and Monk and Robot series by Becky Chambers

My go-to comfort reads are the Girl Meets Duke series by Tessa Dare. HistRoms always pull me out of a funk. π
First 3 books are kinda rough but also very short, but it eventually grows into one of the best stories ever about doing what's right no matter what

I have a serious, chronic illness so it could happen.
Otherwise, I'm gone.
I deleted my other accounts. I saw one of social media CEOs doing a Nazi salute. Then I saw another social media CEO sitting calmly next to him. There is nothing I can do to fix it, but I do not have to participate and I won't.
Actual comfort read: Perks of being a wallflower
Sweet but with real depth
One of my comfort reads is The Green Knowe chronicles. Nice to read in paper; audio narrated beautifully by Simon Vance.
Also, I quite all my soc. med. accounts. It's quiet in my brain.
Itβs VERY cozy and comfy. Think Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli levels.
1 - anything Fredrik Backman. Tread lightly bc his books arenβt necessarily escapism as they often deal with heavy topics. But every character is so deeply human, and that brings me comfort.
