This is incredibly heartbreaking. Another example of what women have to deal with when seeking medical care. When we aren’t listened to or taken seriously when we know that something is wrong. When the arrogance of doctors is pitted against those who know their bodies…

They didn't examine her but told her she had a disease she caught from a toilet seat. They gave her an antibiotic.
After finally making it to the doctor some time later, he sent her back to get an ultrasound. They found a fist sized tumor on her ovary.
Mom survived, I'm sorry this young woman didn't.
Issues like this have always been very real, and they will never be fixed by ignoring or dismissing people, cutting research funding or not helping to get more diversity in jobs.
It's a lack of priority, of representation in clinical trials, of accountability in research and policy. It's a systemic failure to value all bodies equally — and it costs lives.
Over the years I’ve had good male doctors who might have been equally responsive.
In this case, I’m incredibly glad I didn’t have to find out.
the people who loved her. Every time I hear of this I think, What is the Hippocratic
My ex husband had to demand that a hospital admit me. After being held 72 hours I had a life saving surgery.
It’s fucking gross.

I nearly died from a bowel obstruction.

It's hard when avoidable things happen, must be so much harder for women ❤️🩹
Doctors seem to have an increasing trend of not hearing their patients, and having pre-biases. Hopefully we can raise more awareness in this time of pseudoscience and failure to listen❣️💓
I'm grateful to be getting treatment now, at least. I find it exceedingly frustrating that my impending doom could have been avoided. Even though the hammer fell on me, I've still got my friends and pup. Que Sera Sera 😁 keep moving along even if I'm a hard time losin man 😉
It is seriously underfunded. By reducing funds, the effectiveness is reduced, hostility towards it increases, and the momentum to eliminate it builds. The same forces preventing National health care in the US are working to destroy it in the UK.
