The other thing is, especially in laptops but in general, any number of things can just straight up fail on a computer and it's like...yeah just sending it back to wherever is probably the best bet anyway. I don't have much interest in fixing things under warranty anymore.

The Lenovo I have did something similar and cracking it open and booting it with the internal battery disconnected fixed it, but doing that on a machine that I have owned for less than 24 hours seemed misguided.
