guy who gave a presentation on the "ethereum social layer" had such a non-answer when asked about atp/bsky
even after directly saying that the use of x is disastrous for the community & they should move, & acknowledging that farcaster/lens are jokes even among eth people, he didn't see alignment

unfortunately, this is going to be the case on almost any public social media. sometimes for good reasons, especially right now with the worst part of the us government being friendly to it
and like, they already don't. even he didn't even take farcaster/lens seriously. not invented here type beat

Crypto-twitter still dominates crypto narrative formation.
for me personally, it's mostly that it doesn't seem to have ambition to achieve critical mass, or appeal outside of crypto people, and its structure means it probably can't.
If they want an insular club for religious adherents to pat each other on the back, go for it, but they can't build mass appeal that way.
WTF
kinda need a SIWE PDS gateway wired up with did:web or something
"wired up with did:web" - are you thinking the gateway manages the did:web for those onboarded this way? or must users bring a domain? what does this part look like?
you could do an on-chain PLC doc potentially
and i think you're right, making it _feel_ cyber / cypherpunk is probably the important part
