Our less colourful but beautiful blackbirds have signalled spring is on its way with their gorgeous song. Early in morning and just before dusk. Lifts the heart 🌼
I once asked my natural science roommate the species name for 'a red-winged black bird ' and boy was the answer a letdown
They are lovely birds, even so
Growing up in the 60s in coastal Ga town they were a constant thousands of them. Sadly their habitat was destroyed by industrial pollution. Even after the EPA was established they never made a comeback. Gone for good. Now trump wants to inflict this horror on coastal birds again.😢
They are alive and thriving in Black Moshannon and expanding their territory over the years. They may have left the coast, but they're not gone by a long shot. I'm not sure why people think they're noisy, but maybe these guys just like to fly under the radar.
Dear Heart, when I lived in Pennsylvania (Chester County) I would visit a park nearly every day. A couple of male blackbirds would sing. One perched in a branch just above me and sang his little heart out. It was magical. Thank you for sharing this beautiful photo. All Love
This little bugger and his gang surround my house every spring and attack all who pass by dive bombing hair and screaming at joggers and it’s a shit show until the babes leave the nest!
I love the lighting in your photo! I find it difficult to get a good shot of a Red-winged blackbird with clear details around the eyes because their feathers are so dark.

I mean they literally are, but hearing their cry makes it very easy to see why.
