Looking around Logan is a great example of the problem. Chase is empty (one class/grade), Yates is empty and only two blocks from Moos. Darwin isn't exactly full.

There just aren't enough kids to fill these schools right now. A school can launch a STEM program or whatever to attract new students, but they have to pull them from somewhere else. You can keep some parents from driving east, but at some point it's a zero sum issue.

Jackson Potter mentioned Dyett in the Chalkbeat article, but their gains have to come from elsewhere in a place that's losing population, and schools like Phillips have gotten cannibalized by any gains they've made... and Dyett is down 100 students from its peak in 2020.

tbh I think that article was pretty bad - it framed a lot of things as natural inputs that are actually policies and choices
