The #TI99 it was such a nice computer. Probably the best system to learn BASIC.

For BASIC I'd recommend the BBC Micro or Acorn Archimedes.

Yes, the BBC BASIC is the best BASIC but the TI99 BASIC is the simplest to learn. (No cryptic vdu 27,... syntax to learn)

FaST Basic for the Atari ST was effectively BBC structured Basic. No VDU calls etc. Although it was on a ROM cart.
