The far more just solution would have been to turf every single one of the Rebel Media instigators. Not a single one deserved to be there in the first place; yet grace is warranted when a mistake is corrected.
This craven act, however, merely compounds the error by denying the public their proxies.
I went to UofC in the early '90s, so I might have as well.
But there were too many loudmouthed blowhard cons at my alma mater to shake a stick at, so he doesn't stand out in my memory.π
For sure we overlapped. He and Rob Anders were a year ahead of me in Poli Sci and I debated against them in model parliament. They were insufferable then and now.
I was driving school bus as a part time job.
Rarely showed up to class, except to write exams or hand in assignments.
I did make an appearance at a model parliament, so it's entirely possible that I witnessed you handing some junior cons their pompous arses!π€£
It was all part of his plan, so PP could slide out the back door without having to expose himself to media without his screeners/staff there to run interference. Which begs the question why are third party elections advertisers True North and Rebel allowed media availability?
It was to protect Pierre and prevent any real reporters from asking questions. Pierre worked for Ezra's campaign before he stepped aside to make room for Harper.
Yup. Now they'll go into victim mode, blaming the establishment for their treatment. I live in AB, I'm sure our premier will cite it as another example of how poorly treated we are π
Wow. They're thugs hoping to intimidate and overwhelm. The debate commission should fully wear this failure, by their cowardly decision to let them in in the first place instead of standing their ground. Let them sue, they didn't qualify for journalism credits and they'd lose this one too.
Pierre Poilievre should fully wear this! He encourages and supports their hateful rhetoric at his rally's. They are his messengers of hate and division. This is what a Poilievre government would look like. Chaos!!
The Rebel takes advantage of the tautology, right? By virtue of being accredited as journalists for this event, they're therefore β for the purpose of this event β accredited journalists.
Doctors, Lawyers, and Engineers govern themselves through professional organizations. They ensure minimum standards and professional conduct through licensure.
Journalists should probably do this too to save their profession.
It is "100% thanks to the Debates Commission" that allowed Rebel Media's participation because it failed to do its due diligence. Rebel got the press pass given to it by the incompetent debates commission which should have excluded it.
The Debate Commission is corrupt. They allowed a dozen Rebel media disruptors to attend, but not one @canadiangreens.bsky.social leader on stage to debate all the men, or bring up issues on which our future hinges upon.
The irony of EL sending multiple agitators (I will not call them journalists) to an event when for years he screeched about CBC's various divisions sending multiple crews to events (which, with the level of technology at the time, was justified)...
This a total weakness in leadership by the commission trying to agree with everyone. Total void of decision being taken over by legal due process of ridicule. The commission needs to stand up and decide and stop hiding behind bullshit legalities.
I said as much in an email to the Commission last night, Rebel & aligned RW media was a planned swarm so they could run their takeover & control the messaging
It has nothing to do with "courage". The debates commission is supposed to check the third party status of groups registered with Elections Canada, which Rebel Media is. Those groups are supposed to be excluded from participation.
I don't recall if I ever posted about this, but it was obvious that when True North's Candice Malcolm and Counter Signal's Keean "Incel Caillou" Bexte co-founded Juno News, they were merely trying to maximize the number of right-wing media outlets that could apply for accreditation.
It's the same rationale behind that same gang of fascists and neo-Nazis having founded something called the "Independent Press Gallery," which is nothing more than a fancy label to claim some gravitas.

See - not just Tucker and reich wingers can "just ask questions"...!
Levant?

The Rebel have (I counted) no fewer than a dozen people in this room. Thereβs no journalistic rationale to send that many people.
Nothing else makes sense?
It is entirely their modus operandi.
They have to be the story.
And now they will go and crow about.
Which is why they should never have been accredited for this event, and should never be accredited for anything
I also can develop a website, YT channel & spout my lame opinions everywhere but that doesn't make me a journalist
Journalists should probably do this too to save their profession.
The only footage being shared of any media confrontation is Stu Benson on the attack, and Ezra Levant being low energy while his hyenas chuckle...
You have to understand how that looks from a propaganda perspective, yes?
What set Stu off? I still don't know. Rebel edited their clip
Heβs sitting with Rebel people, and pops over to Levant to show him things on his phone regularly. Taking direction.
They have as many βoutletsβ as they can create websites.
