In all seriousness: I criticize the language in order to be helpful. This is a tough time for Canada. We need to put out best foot forward. I'm concerned that the government will embarrass itself by using words bound to irritate our allies and mislead people. www.theenergymix.com/hoping-for-d...

Nice!

Hard to disagree with this. Our newly-elected PM is not off to an encouraging start on this or other issues.

Whenever I drive through the Okanagan, I see anti-abortion billboards. A local activists wanted to put up some pro-choice ads - but has been shut out by the four companies that run billboards in the region. Story by @michellegamage.bsky.social thetyee.ca/News/2025/06...

NEW: There's no sugarcoating it. The Liberals' proposed Strong Borders Act represents a total betrayal of voters who elected Carney to stand up to Trump. www.readtheorchard.org/p/carney-ben...

former Burnaby Now, New West Record and Tri-City News reporters announcing a campaign to launch a cooperatively owned and run publication covering the communities that have lost their local news publications

I think it's time to start reaching out to Liberal MPs, asking serious them why these sweeping changes are needed and if they support these attacks on our rights.

I was impressed, travelling through northern and western Greece, to see the large number of small-scale solar installations powering farms in the region.

I'm finding Patrick McGee's "Apple in China: The Capture of the World's Greatest Company" a brisk, compelling piece of reporting and writing. It's also eye-opening.

In the months since I wrote this piece, I've been reflecting on the core of the modern separatist movement in Alberta. I'm becoming more convinced that it's not a product of western alienation so much as an offshoot of far right politics. open.substack.com/pub/drjaredw...

Mark Carney convened the Incident Response Group on the wildfires in SK and MB, and says the government will match Red Cross donations. #cdnpoli

I've returned to buying some books on paper after a long spell of e-books only, and while I value the rediscovered tactility, I miss the ability to change the type size (aging eyes), or tap a word for its definition.

If Mark Carney has had a less than impressive start, this is the reason why, @justinling.ca writes. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont... Find out more at nationalnewswatch.com

More than 40% of Europe slides into drought, including pockets of Greece, southern Italy and Spain

Awesome that we get to experience a global fascist backlash & an overheating earth at the same time. Worth noting, though: only one of those is permanent.

Astonishingly good news.

I’m still absolutely floored at this statistic that more than 80% of British Columbia’s energy still comes from combustion. We need to build an astronomical amount of clean electricity generation in the next 10 years.

This guy stole $10 million from the employees of his nursing home to buy himself a luxury yacht and Cartier watches. He PLED GUILTY. And because his Mom gave Trump $1 million, he just got a pardon. And this story barely makes the news today. WTF. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/27/u...

he does realize Golden Dome doesn't work without Canadian NORAD right

I'll add that this Herald story on the subject is an utter failure, giving the government a platform to make claims about these books with no further research whatsoever. It might as well be a press release.

#Measles is not being spread in Canada by visitors or temporary workers. It’s being spread by unvaccinated people infected with measles.
