They have it in an Oil & Vinegar shop (surprise, surprise) down the road. Iβm going to buy some: I was just heading out anyway. Woo hoo! Iβll have brown sauce out my wazoo (needs rephrasing) soon!!
I got all excited until I got to the vinegar bit. Imagine the depths of inhumanity of being forced to dribble on brown sauce made with just one type of wine vinegar? The horror.
Should have stuck with instinct - 2 ingredients:
Bread
Bacon
No sauce, just GOOD smoked bacon - that will give sufficient flavour, dripping instead of butter (call ahead at AnE). If bacon is good enough WHITE sliced (blotting paper) will still make great (authentic) butty (baguette appealing though
No thanks. Bacon is disgusting. Brown sauce is even more disgusting (deliberately so, in order to disguise how disgusting bacon is!) Cheese on toast with some red onion chutney for me.
Next week: Raymond Blancβs mug of tea.
You will need:
1 x 18th Century imperial falangcai porcelain goblet;
1 x Sao Miguel tea plantation;
Quart of milk sourced from udder of Holstein-Friesian cow;
1 x Silver spoon to stir (wipe clean after first removing from mouth)
I donβt think Iβm ever more conservative that when it comes to a bacon sandwich. Like a 16th century puritan or right wing anti woke blow hard. BaCOn SaNDWIChes ShoULD ONLy hAVe BuTtER. #brownsauceisWOKE
Nah. Nigella's recipe is better. My family go mad for it whenever I make a batch. The base is rhubarb, which grows like a weed in my garden (practically the only useful thing that does!).
Maybe a little more detail regarding the entire process, from pigs stunned in metal lifts using COΒ² and then having their throats cut, often as the effects of the semi-suffocation are wearing-off.
Fresh toasted sour dough, slathered in Cornish salted butter, 4-5 slices of crispy smoked bacon, dash of American mustard and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. That is my perfect bacon sandwich
I had a bacon baguette on Wednesday from Greggs - I doubt Mr Chef can improve on a good old fashioned crispy bacon on white bread, with red sauce. (Saying it as it is)

Having lived very short lives of misery.
