Rarig sounds like a terrific place for a convention! Nice seats, good acoustics, built-in lighting and sound systems, just a real step up from the usual high school auditorium. (I have seen a lot of theater in there thanks to the Fringe Festival.)
Woman entered the row ahead of me, smiled in my direction, said "well I think a fuck you is in order." Either she knows me or she's mad at whoever convinced her to come today.
Was something said to be "out of order" immediately before her statement that "a duck you is in order"? Because if so, she might have been editorializing on that.
Steve Brandt, running for reelection to the board of estimate and taxation. Moderate in tone and appearance, but has been accused of neo-socialism by the city's biggest cranks for wanting to ease the city's property tax burden with a small income tax on $200k+ incomes.
Dan Engelhart running for Park Board in district 1, already has the coveted Wedge LIVE endorsement.
Incumbent Billy Menz authored the resolution to ditch the long range plan for the Mall park in Uptown, which could've added green space and trees but will remain a dingy parking lot.
First controversy of the day. Credentials committee challenging delegates who indicated support for Robin Wonsley on their non attendee forms. Competing boos and cheers.
They stated that we were not there in good faith to vote for a "DFL candidate", that we were gaming the system, and compared us to someone walking in with Scott Jensen as their candidate of choice.
Why would anyone ever indicate a candidate ahead of time ever again after this? I feel like this stunt just makes it clear to never put it in writing again?
Speaker against says you can be both a DFLer and a supporter of Robin Wonsley. Points to Wonsley's endorsements from Ilhan Omar and Keith Ellison. One of the challenged delegates is DFL elected official Becky Alper.
Park Commissioner Becky Alper says she's a lifelong Democrat. She filled out a non attendee form because she's a mom. Absurd, ludicrous, crazy that she and 50 others would have delegate status challenged for indicating support for Robin Wonsley.
