This reminds me of my son. He is part Filipino and doesn't often get targeted by racism but when he does he says he struggles with a little initial (and completely inappropriate) excitement like a benchwarmer getting to bat for the first time. "Oh! It's me! I'm up! Wait... no... this is awful."
