Oh, the UK is out, and will remain so for the foreseeable future. No UK government would survive an attempt to rejoin. Parliament would demand another referendum, in which the rejoin offering would be to pay a lot more in to EU coffers, whilst losing the pound and central bank control.

That would be an impossible sell to the public at the moment. Negotiating better relations between the UK and the EU though is not unfeasible. Both sides benefit from trading and strategic alliances, and work can be done on those without undermining the integrity of the EU.

As much as I would like to see the UK back in the EU, I don’t think the EU should allow it band in without some serious concessions:
-Adopt the Euro
-Make it WAY more difficult to drop back out again.

Adopt the Euro for sure Rick, whereas dropping-out, has proved to be such a dud and fairly financially beneficial to the EU coffers thus a strong enough incentive to stay in. And, of course, all the benefits that that always guaranteed 🧐🇪🇺

As much as I'd love us to re-join the EU there are several real issues confronting us as a nation that Starmer has to face with dwindling political capital. The issue fuelling Brexit was the resentment of a perceived unbalanced economy. Until that is resolved Farage can push the same buttons.
