I read a lot of fiction, and a lot of it is dystopian. The silly, over-the-top, trying-way-too-hard authoritarian nomenclature in those stories has always struck me as the most metaphorical, least realistic thing about those novels. Seems reality read dystopian fiction like a how-to manual, not a warning. I used to think ‘Ministry of Truth’ was too on-the-nose—now I’m just impressed Orwell didn’t add a mascot and a catchy jingle.

The best fiction and myths from history have come from stories of prior civilization collapses. Number one best seller is the Bible ;) It's just oral history written down much later to relate to current events. That's the beauty. It's not the moral, it's how you can relate ;)
