I'm sorry if you never had a mentor. Neither did I. So here's hard advice: We can't dismantle anti-gay bigotry until we deal with our own internal bigotry. We can't receive compassion until we learn how to exercise it. We actually have to be better than the people trying to erase us. Happy Pride.
