After the bird epidemic that killed a lot of chickens and drove prices sky high, prices have doubled for eggs, but that has nothing to do with inflation. The supply chain was decimated and is still recovering.

CA has stricter requirements for chicken / egg production than other states but the prices aren’t that much higher. Also 2019 was a trough in historical prices.

All these spikes are bird flu.

Same with chicken. Producers wildly overestimated demand and cut production, demand rose, but production fell behind and created a supply shortage. Hence higher prices. Prices aren't higher because the dollar is weaker.

If this were an inflation problem, consumer goods and services costs would generally be trending at similar levels, but they're not.

Pork and used cars cost less. Consumer electronic costs have tanked.

I think you’re confusing spikes due to culls related to bird flu with the long term price trend which is “barely changing”.
