California and New York democrats don't really have any 'selective pressure', except for winning brawls with other democrats. In general, they're the last place you should look for national leadership, their motives and skills are always misaligned the nation's needs. Some exceptions do occur.

You totally miss the point of his podcasts. He's asking the opposition why they think they are winning. One reason the brand is toxic is the disrespect for people who are not college graduates. They make up the majority of voters. They were the base of FDR's support.
