In 2017-2020, we did this. And like you, I've been writing postcards of support fed agencies in my state. We later found out that EPA in CA displayed the postcards in the stairwells so everyone could see the love.

I wasn't keeping track of card destinations. I started leaving 5 star google reviews praising heroes for each place. Imagine millions of people doing the same thing. My google views are 11 million. We literally don't have to change our position on the couch to do it. #holdtheline #chaoticgood

Oh, I don’t write anyone’s name. Ever. I have no idea who’s going to get it. I address it “to any employee” And it’s not their personal address. It’s the address of a federal agency on Google maps and the Internet. #holdtheline

I go to Google maps and type in the name of whatever agency is getting a kick in the teeth that day. Then I go to different states to look at agency locations. Sometimes I use street view because I like to choose small buildings that would never have supportive protests since it’s out of the way.

Oh thanks so much for letting me know! The fun part- going through Google maps to choose a place. I might choose a red state, or a tiny little outpost where it would be unexpected. Street view often helps me choose. If you don’t mind, write #holdtheline just in case a recipient posts the result.

I am so random. Not only do I use #HoldTheLine but I also use #ChaoticGood because I just go to a state on Google maps and I search for a federal agency I heard about recently in the news. Then I click on the results and I pretty much decide based on the building, or the location.

I’ll even look at the street view or the photos. If some asshole has given them a bad review, I might pick that one. If it looks like a little place that needs some love I pick that. Or if it’s in the middle of nowhere, where they won’t see any protests for them.

The big message here is that we don’t need to wait for someone to organize a structure for us. If you mail five random cards, and four are received, and each of those four shows five friends, that’s 24 public servants that got your message. And of course, some of those people will share.
