I like Freeland but would argue that stepping away from politics and conceding to Carney is the best move for the party. Cons obviously associate her with the PMJT regime, while many Libs are unhappy with her actions leading up to his resignation. Plus her persona grates in comparison to Carney’s.

If it’s between Carney or Freeland, I’m going for Carney, but it has nothing to do with sex or gender, for me Freeland was a little too slimy in her exit from cabinet.

In a perfect world, where we would have had the luxury of voting our hearts, we might have voted differently. We don’t have that luxury this time. Sometimes the need for logic and loyalty to our country must come first.

It was the wrong time, PMJT needed her expertise to deal with Trump’s tariff war. Other Cabinets Ministers put their ambitions aside to focus on what must be done. I’m hardly alone in this thinking. I always admired her, but she’s a poor communicator. Mark Carney will attract centrists.

I agree. Canada needs her in cabinet. She's a great asset but I don't see her as a leader. Her communication style is very stilted and speech very deliberate and slow. If speaking to people with hearing deficits it's helpful but in public it almost feels she's speaking down to us.
