I grew up understanding that midlife crises were buying a porsche and having an affair not burning down the fucking country because your kid wants to be called they

The myth of “tax payer money” was created for this purpose: To kill FDRism/social democracy
And even as it’s glaringly obvious now that our government creates our currency, we’re still framing things as though some tax payer out there creates our currency
They throw a big party, and the best they can get is Chachi and Kid Rock. Midlife crises are about "am I still cool?" and these guys were NEVER cool, never will be, and they know it
Or burning down the country because someone else’s kid wants to be called they. I mean, maybe work on yourself a bit before telling everyone else how to live? And these folk’s midlife crises last multiple decades
This is a bit of a joke but more seriously given that so much 20th century literature is about middle aged guys having midlife crises i am a bit mad that all these authors did not prepare me
Along those same lines, there's an entire generation raised on summer blockbusters about a democracy-killing evil genius bent on world domination being thwarted by the good guys. Yet we're all standing around with our thumbs up our asses wondering what the fuck to do now that it's really happening.
It's only a "bit" of a joke. There's good reason to think that Dave Chappelle inviting Elon onto that stage where he was booed was a triggering event. There are reports of him having locked himself in his room after that and refusing to come out like a 13 year old girl who heard N'Sync broke up.

Both of them can buy thousands and thousands of sports cars -
it just isn't enough. It's never enough.
