Amen. People aren't turned off by Dems because they sheepishly support trans people. People are turned off because they have no backbone and clear principles like standing up for the little guy - whether that's trans people, immigrants, or whoever. They're turned off because they look wishy-washy.

Well, it was started by the Dems using social issues as a differentiator. They weren't offering single payer, good pay, or affordable housing. Just that "we're not bigots and neither are you if you vote for us". Which opened up the Republicans to argue "you really want THAT teaching your kids?"
