I was in the crowd that lined Wellington Street in Ottawa to see The King open Parliament. A few observations. 1) Nobody other than the Monarch can bring together such a large and diverse number of Canadians. Period.

2) There is a real sense of a renewed interest in the Monarchy in this country. What I saw today is evidence of that. Canadians are again rallying around the Crown to promote national identity and sovereignty. Thank you, Mr. Trump.
3) Republicanism is dead in this country. I'm glad because I'm a strong monarchist. The so-called golden opportunity when Charles became King is past and gone. He's popular and he cemented his role here today. Sorry not sorry to my republican friends.
