I was in the crowd that lined Wellington Street in Ottawa to see The King open Parliament. A few observations. 1) Nobody other than the Monarch can bring together such a large and diverse number of Canadians. Period.

Welcome home, Your Majesties.

Preseason football. Ti-Cats vs. Argonauts. Windy as hell here tonight.

I can't believe it's been 32 years. It was a fun night even though the Ti-Cats lost.

Happy Victoria Day. Bonne fête du Roi.

Red and Black Rough Riding Renegades The colours red and black have long been associated with the city of Ottawa and its various football teams throughout the years. Here's a story behind the name of the Ottawa Redblacks and the old Ottawa Rough Riders. canadianfootballhistory.ca/2025/05/07/r...

Big day for Canada! The King will open Canada's 45th Parliament later this month. The last time the monarch delivered the Throne Speech was Queen Elizabeth II in 1977.

The first "official" Canadian football draft was held in 1953 by the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union (IRFU) aka the Big Four. Drafted first overall by the Montreal Alouettes was defensive lineman Doug McNichol. (photos courtesy of the Vintage Football Card Gallery) #cfl

Bring on The King!

Happy Friday! Stewart Johnston was formally introduced as the CFL's 15th Commissioner this week. Here is the CFL's very first Commissioner - Sydney Halter. #cfl

So far so good for the new CFL Commissioner. I actually believe the CFL is on the cusp of something big. The timing is right (e.g., renewed Canadian patriotism, flag football in the next Olympics, new media deals soon) to take this little old Canadian league to the next level. #cfl

This story makes my otherwise dull Monday a happy day :)

Happy Friday. Here's a blast from the past...an action shot from the 1962 Grey Cup (aka the famous "Fog Bowl") at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. (Photo courtesy of the Canadian Football Research Society)

What if the rouge were adopted into the American game? canadianfootballhistory.ca/2025/03/26/t... #cfl

Hi everyone. I'm in the process of putting together some articles about former CFL players who went on to become professional wrestlers. Please help me with some names to include.

It's March 1948 in East Jeddore, Nova Scotia. Here's what was going on in the life of my great grandmother Alice (Baker) Power. robertfinch.ca/2025/03/22/a...

No, the USA should not and will not become a member of the Commonwealth.

This is where Bluesky wins.

Debating the Rouge...in 1912 The debate over the rouge is nothing new. Below is an article that appeared in the Toronto Star in 1912 about abolishing the rouge in Canadian football. canadianfootballhistory.ca/2025/03/19/d... #cfl

“Canada is fortunate to have a steadfast defender in our sovereign.” - Prime Minister Mark Carney « Le Canada a la chance d'avoir un défenseur inébranlable en la personne de son souverain. » - Le premier ministre Mark Carney

The Trudeau 2.0 era comes to an end. Canada will have a new prime minister today. Will be fascinating to see how long the Carney era lasts. We're about to have one of the most important elections in Canadian history.

King Charles reaffirms commitment to Canada against backdrop of US trade war

Turns out having a president isn’t that great of an idea, is it? Lucky we don’t have one then. 🇨🇦

Finally got around to renewing my season tickets for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. 2025 is the 30th anniversary of being a TiCat season ticket holder. My parents gave my brother, sister, and me 1995 season tickets for Christmas in 1994. Oskee wee wee. #ticats #cfl

Would love to be a fly on the wall at The King's audience with the Prime Minister tomorrow.

What an absolute shitshow in Washington today. Good grief.
