Think it's just frustrating to some fans because you see teams like Bournemouth and Brighton being successful with it. The ideal would be a mix of their model but with the finances to make a marquee signing or two as and when required. Seems like the most sustainable model.

I think we shouldn’t be comparing to them though as our aim is the sky 6 and we need to be efficient with our resources to bridge the financial gap.
Also, Newcastle were also relegation battlers before our recruitment strategy helped us out
Would that have happened had Isak suffered his groin injury in January and not right after the cup final?
Did we look half as good a team without Joelinton as we did with him?
Howe is working miracles with a paper thin squad.
Some of our fans seem to buy into this notion that the only way to improve our squad is to overpay for PL experience when the alternative is to develop a much more sophisticated recruitment model (or remove Howe's PL/CL experience veto...)
That continental talent cost us £200m+
That's not a balance. That's an unsustainable recruitment model.
How do I know this? Because said recruitment model prevented us from signing anyone for 18 months and forced us into last minute PSR sales.
